About the Author

I am so happy that you have picked up this book and are considering it for a child in your life. I am not an expert. I am not a PhD, a theologian, or a minister of any sort. I am simply a mother who loves to pray.  I am a mother who has found a relationship with God through prayer and feels contentment and joy in this relationship. I am a mother who hopes and prays that she can help you and your child do the same through her stories about Peter and Penelope. I strongly encourage you to pray with your children and introduce them to Jesus at a young age. Get a children's devotional book and read with them. Pray together as a family. Start a prayer board and have them pray for others aloud.  Give your family the opportunity to make this a natural and normal part of their everyday lives. It is the best gift you could give them. I’ve prayed about Penelope and Peter for years and am finally responding to God’s call. It is also my prayer that I can use this calling to helping others. I am donating 20% of each sale to support organizations in my community. Now, it is time to introduce you to Princess Penelope and Prince Peter, Prayer Warriors!

word count: 900

Content

Eli Does His Best is a comical, adventurous ride with Eli, a dog with a lofty goal. Eli dreams of becoming the world’s highest jumper, but his failed attempts at clearing clotheslines have resulted in only muddy paw prints, an angry owner, and several furious neighbors. Eli is back on his dog run. How can he protect little Sarah now? On his way to Bark Buster’s Dog Training, Eli escapes. Undaunted, Eli jumps out of a moving car, gets covered in red paint, then splatters it all over his backyard. Just when things can’t seem to get any worse, Eli does the impossible for Sarah and discovers that doing your best always pays off. This is the first in a series of books designed for children to discover godly principles.

About the Author

Deanne Kylstra is a licensed Speech Language Pathology Assistant, providing speech therapy for children ages 5-18. She has also served at Saddleback Church as a Kids Small Group Leader since 2010, implementing a strong foundation of God’s Word into the hearts and minds of our future generations. The book was inspired by witnessing the struggles of our children today who focus on attaining perfection on their report cards. If children can understand at an earlier age that God only asks us to do our best, then we would have a new generation of children walking in the freedom of knowing that it’s their best that is pleasing to God. The book could be sold at Saddleback Church, which is a multi-site megachurch.

author: Stephen B

category: nonfiction • subcategory: spiritualgrowth • date submitted: 10.27.2021 • author id: BaStI 28721

word count: 64000

Content

(Working Title: I Am) This book was written with simple goals in mind. The world needs to know the spiritual fitness of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to lead everyone into the presence of God. This book was written to provide the reader with a short but intense look at Jesus Christ. Who was Jesus? Was he special? Did he have a message that we need to hear? The book starts out by examining the qualifications of Jesus Christ, outlining his role in creation, exploring his capacity to lead, and delving into the power of The Resurrection that resided within him. Next, the author presents each reader with biblical truths to guide informed choices about eternity. Will it be a lifeless place without God’s presence, a place of loss and deprivation? Or, will eternity be filled with the life-giving presence of God in a place of wonder and beauty? This book makes it clear that Jesus chose to come to us so that as we walk through our lives we can search out the beauty and love of God - and make our own choices - for eternity.

title: Adventures of a Maverick Scientist

author: Forrest M

category: nonfiction • subcategory: biography • date submitted: 10.27.2021 • author id: MiFoAd28321

word count: 125000

Content

“Adventures of a Maverick Scientist” is a memoir about a Christian science writer who received international publicity after losing his column in Scientific American because he privately rejected Darwinian evolution and abortion. That writer was me, and I went on to write 50+ books with total sales exceeding 7.5 million copies (the potential  audience for this memoir) and receive a Rolex Award for inventing a handheld  instrument that found an error in NASA’s ozone satellite. That finding led to my first paper in Nature, the world’s leading scientific journal. This memoir is designed to motivate Christians to excel when faced with ridicule from skeptics and today’s cancel culture crowd. Thanks to my faith in God, I’ve had a successful career as an inventor, self-taught scientist and author of best-selling books and a few thousand magazine and newspaper articles. I’ve also edited two science magazine. Though my sole degree is a BA in government and English from Texas A&M, more than 20 of my research papers have been published in science journals. A paper on my 30 years of measurements of the ozone layer, water vapor layer and haze will be published in the December issue of  Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, a leading journal.

About the Author
The audience includes millions of readers of my books, many of whom have written to say my books began their careers. They include university professors, engineers, scientists and people interested in my role in the founding of  Microsoft. I also hear from readers who want to vicariously accompany me on two field campaigns for NASA in Brazil and at forest fires in the US and 235 days and nights at Hawaii’s high-altitude Mauna Loa Observatory. I’m active on Facebook, Wikipedia has a reasonable accurate article about my career, major technical websites have interviewed me, I’ve been interviewed on hundreds of radio and TV programs, including Voice of America and Armed Forces Radio, and I’ve been the subject of three film documentaries. My personal sites include www.forrestmims.org and http://www.sunandsky.net. I’m planning  a major photo website to support this memoir. The Intelligent Design community has always expressed interest in my career, and the Discovery Institute (I’m a fellow) will help promote the book.

title: Sanctuary: Praying and Parenting Your Child Through Cancer

author: Susan N

category: nonfiction • subcategory: devotional • date submitted: 10.27.2021 • author id: NeSuSa27921

word count: 20000

Content

This is a book specifically for parents and caregivers of children battling cancer. There is an unmet need for this demographic of parents facing a terrible reality. Back cover copy: When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the parents enter a fight just as big as the child. The battle will be physical and spiritual, and likely the biggest one of your life. Inside this book is daily hope and encouragement for the awful, fearful, and hopeful days ahead. Don’t lose sight of God’s work in this new road of life. Manuscript Status: 40% complete. The book will be approximately 200 pages at completion – 90 devotions, each about 2 pages in length. It can be completed within 4-6 months of contract, depending on need

About the Author
I am a married mother of two, one of whom battled leukemia for two and a half years. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Minnesota, and have spent most of my career working with children and families. I have a strong history of public speaking, including ranking in the state on my college forensics team and as an ambassador for the cities of Maple Grove and Minneapolis. In both of those roles I was interviewed for newspapers and television and I'm very comfortable speaking publicly in any situation. The market audience for this book, of course, is parents and caregivers of children with cancer. This may seem like a small community, but childhood cancer is NOT rare. And I actually believe one of the largest categories of buyers will be loved ones of these families. From experience, friends and family members want to do anything they can to help children and parents when cancer strikes, and gift books are an obvious item. There aren't really any books for this population and certainly none about parenting nor from a Christian perspective. This alone makes my book needed and marketable, but I pray the content is genuinely helpful for the audience it's intended.

title: RAVENSMERE

author: Marilyn P

category: fiction • subcategory: historical • date submitted: 10.20.2021 • author id: PeMaRA27121

word count: 99000

Content

When Regency England-era orphan Geneva Everson discovers her entire history is a lie, her new life as mistress of a mystery-riddled wealthy estate quickly becomes a labyrinth of treachery, danger, and heartbreak, leaving only Geneva’s courage, determination, and faith in a loving God as guide to whom she should love, whom she can trust, and how to forgive.

About the Author

I am a retired Registered Nurse. I’ve invested five years of daily writing to learn my craft as a writer, including three years of mentoring by award-winning novelist and editor Jeanette Windle. My love of Britain’s Regency era stems from extended holidays in southern England, where I soaked up the pastoral beauty and rich history. The historic Athelhampton House in rural Dorset, including its local history of underpaid farm laborers rebelling in the Swing riots of 1830, and my personal compassion for the poor became the template for my first Regency novel. Ravensmere’s spiritual message was birthed from my own lengthy experience with bitterness and is based on Hebrews 12:14-15: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness…lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you.” Only when I repented of my own unforgiveness could God bring healing and renew joy in my life.

title: One of Them: The Transformation of Simon Peter

author: Tom H

category: fiction • subcategory: biblical • date submitted: 10.14.2021 • author id: HoToOn26421

word count: 50000

Content

The purpose of writing about the Apostle Peter is simple!  We all sin and fall short of the glory of God, and the Apostle Peter was no exception. After all, he denied knowing Jesus three times right before the crucifixion. But God!  By the power of the Holy Spirit, Peter overcame his past to become a critical leader in the first-century church. Just like Peter, we all have the same opportunity to overcome our sinful past and work in powerful ways on behalf of the Kingdom of God. While no one knows Simon Peter’s life prior to meeting Jesus on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, my novel provides a unique picture of Simon as a young, arrogant man with no direction in life, except making a meager living by fishing. Certainly, Simon Peter’s walk with Jesus is well-documented, but this story provides added fictional insights into Peter’s character prior to meeting Jesus and joining him as one of the twelve disciples. Readers will be able to examine the life of one of the Bible’s greatest characters.  And Simon Peter was a character!  As a result, they can apply the same biblical principles to have a compelling impact on this world, just as St. Peter had two thousand years ago.

title: The Church and The Depressed Christian

author: Tabitha Y

category: nonfiction • subcategory: churchissues • date submitted: 10.5.2021 • author id: YaTaTh17521

word count: 60000

Content

Do you live your Christian life, on the outside looking in, due to your struggles with mental health? Oftentimes, believers with depression face a lack of proper support and understanding from church members and leadership, leading them to feel alienated within church walls. In The Church and The Depressed Christian, suicide attempt survivor and mental health advocate Tabitha Yates seeks to encourage Christians of all ages who have battled mental health issues and wrestle with how their faith and their feelings can coexist. As a lifelong believer, Tabitha had countless experiences with individuals in her church who felt that her faith was invalidated or lessened by a perceived weakness: her depression. Tabitha’s church leaders lacked the proper tools and understanding to support those living with depression. As a result, her mental health was mishandled to the point that it compelled her to attempt suicide. Readers will find hope and healing as Tabitha shares her inspiring story of living with anxiety and depression within a church setting, surviving a suicide attempt, and clinging to faith when it seemed her life was beyond all possibility of redemption. Tabitha will break down the stigma regarding mental illness within the church in a heartwarming and relatable way. She will gently prod readers back towards a loving relationship with the God who unconditionally accepts them, while sparking a more open conversation about how mental health is approached in the church. She hopes to help those who have left the church due to their mental health to find their way back to restoration and fellowship with other believers, with healthy boundaries in place and a firm understanding that when we learn to put our faith in God, rather than in flawed humanity, we can better navigate life and relationships within the body of Christ. Readers will be reassured that God has a purpose and place within the church for Christians who struggle with anxiety and depression.

Tabitha Yates is a content coordinator, writer, mental health advocate, former educator, and life coach residing in southern Arizona. In a city perched on a hill in suburban Australia, Jesse and Brennan have been in a homosexual relationship for two years. For happy-go-lucky Jesse, life couldn’t be better, but dark, brooding Brennan carries a painful past inside him. The local church minister, Matt, lives an untroubled existence with his wife, Gabby. When Matt and Gabby invite Jesse and Brennan to a barbecue with friends, and then to church, Brennan is initially reluctant. Not everyone in the congregation is as welcoming as Matt would like, either. As time goes on and Jesse journeys closer to Jesus and Christianity, Brennan is forced to make the difficult choice between holding onto the familiar or letting go of his past hurts. Meanwhile, Matt has to wrangle objecting church members while trying to show Christian grace to everyone. This debut novella presents a measured, sensitive exploration of some of the issues in the Christianity/homosexuality debate through a fictionalised account with a distinctly Australian flavour.

word count: 68000

Content

The purpose of this book is to help men and women enter into the kind of relationship with God as described in the Bible. The following scripture passage shows the focus for this book. Matthew 22: 36 -40, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” If all of the law and prophets are founded upon these two commandments, then relationship is the foundation for of all of life.

About the Author
Joseph Helble first accepted Jesus into his life at 8 years of age and while he grew in faith, it was at college, when he joined Campus Crusade for Christ that his relationship with God really grew.  He has served in leading Promise Keepers groups and retreats for Vineyard churches.  He started an after service prayer ministry at Grace Baptist church to help individuals engage with the Lord, and he has served as an elder at Grace. title: The Ultimate Donor

author: Jack A

category: nonfiction • subcategory: theology • date submitted: 9.20.2021 • author id: AnJaTh23621

word count: 44000

Content

Jesus is known for being a Savior, Redeemer, Prophet, Priest, King and Rabbi.  But what about Jesus as a heart donor?  More specifically, the Ultimate Donor?  Using the medical marvel of heart transplantation as a metaphor, Jack Anderson illustrates that God has always been interested in the transformation of the heart (will) of his human creation.  Early in the biblical story we discover that humanity has a diseased sin-sick heart.  God’s prophets declared time after time the importance of a heart change.  The human heart is so sick, in fact, that it needs to be replaced.  Every heart transplant requires the death of a donor.  However, unlike medical transplants, Jesus died only once and for all!  God has made the heart of Christ available to all who accept and confess the grim diagnosis that they have a sin-sick heart.  The Ultimate Donor follows the phases of heart transplantation (diagnosis, transplantation and post-transplant life) to convey that God has given humanity a chance for new life through the death of Jesus.

About the Author
Jack Anderson, Jr. received his master’s degree in theological studies at Anderson University School of Theology.  He has served as an adjunct professor of Bible for Anderson University and Tomlinson Center (Lee University).  For the past thirty-one years he has served two congregations as pastor, currently in Battle Creek, MI.  While serving in Muncie, IN he was a chaplain for the Muncie Police Department for 18 years.  His wife, Brenda, was an investigator for child services in Indiana but is now a teacher of English and Reading for the public school system.  They have two children, Ardenia and Jack III.  Both of Jack's younger brothers have had heart valve replacement surgeries.  Andy, subsequently needed a portion of his abdominal aorta replaced; Ben required a heart transplant.

title: Leveling Up: Adoptive Parents and the Adult Adoptee

author: Christina R

category: nonfiction • subcategory: familyissues • date submitted: 9.20.2021 • author id: ReChLe23621

word count: 43696

Content

Parenting the adopted child into adulthood can be challenging because of the trauma a child experienced before or during the adoption experience. This trauma can make it difficult for an adopted child to trust their parents. During the transition to adulthood, the young adult often needs to problem solve with parents, return to parents for support and refuge when the world is a hard place. When the adopted child struggles to trust their parents as a safe place, this often leaves them feeling alone in the launch. This book can help families to understand why the launch is so challenging, based in an understanding of trauma. It provides ways for parents to stay connected to their child, for the adult adoptee to understand the role of parents and family in launching, and practical tools and tips about accessing services and supports for the whole family. The authors share their personal stories, as adoptive mothers who have launched adoptees to adulthood, paired with clinical psychoeducation and recommendations. All of this is presented through the lens of faith, how our relationship with God sustained us and what the examples in the Bible teach us about parenting.

About the Author
Dr. Christina Reese is an internationally recognized trauma and attachment specialist. She is a therapist, author, speaker and adoptive mother. Elaine Shenk is the director of an adoption and foster care agency and an adoptive mother.

In Tiberias, the capital of Galilee, a young woman, Miriam, struggles to free her wealthy father, Benjamin, who has been imprisoned by Antipas. His crime? Refusing to destroy the only written scroll of the Nazarene's words from Seven Springs. Parosh, the head of the local Pharisees, who failed in his plotting against this new teacher that day, is instead targeting those like Miriam and her father, who are supporting the teacher with their readings of his words and spreading the story of the Pharisees’ defeat. The powerful religious leader won’t be satisfied until their scroll is destroyed and Miriam and her father are dead. A disgraced alcoholic, Daniel, who was trained by Parosh and owes him a life debt, has negotiated an agreement with the palace on behalf of Miriam, an agreement saving himself from debt slavery to Parosh and freeing Miriam’s father from prison. Before honoring that agreement, however, Miriam has arranged one last reading of the Seven Springs scroll, a reading with others who played key roles there and interacted with the Nazarene and the Pharisees. Their combined memories shed new light on what was secretly taking place that day, starting a series of events that will reshape Roman and Judean politics and change the course of our world.

title: Passover Structure of the Biblical Hebrew Calendar Day

author: Brian H

category: nonfiction • subcategory: academic • date submitted: 8.28.2021 • author id: HoBrPa20821

word count: 75000

Content

Traditionally, students of the Bible held that the Hebrew calendar day extended from evening to evening. In recent years, however, the consensus on the biblical day has largely shifted, under the influence of critical methodologies among other factors, from evening to morning inception so much so that some scholars now speak as if the matter lies beyond debate. Without discounting the biblical support for morning inception, this study revisits the evidence for evening inception, arguing that an even stronger case can be made for this time system. By examining the literary and temporal framework of the accounts of two foundational events in the history of biblical Israel, the Exodus in Exodus 12-13 and the giving of manna in Exodus 16, it will be demonstrated that the two original religious observances given to the nation, the Passover and Hag hamatzot (the Feast of Unleavened Bread) not only confirmed their covenant relationship with the Lord and facilitated their departure from Egypt. They also provided a lasting template for the seven-day Hebrew week and for an evening-based Hebrew calendar day. Without resolving all the questions or complexities, this study aspires to broaden again the range of discussion on the Hebrew calendar day.

This story is told in the spirit of Pilgrim’s Progress as it captures one person’s quest in first coming to faith in The Prince of Peace and then continuing on to the promised world to come. The unique feature of this story is the fellow passengers on board. title: Exploit! Maximizing the Strengths of the Small Church

author: Ron K

category: nonfiction • subcategory: churchissues • date submitted: 7.30.2021 • author id: KlRoEx18221

word count: 26000

Working title: Exploit! Maximizing the Strengths of the Small Church This title comes from Dr. Mark Rossi, COO of the Hopedale Medical Complex, a thriving medical community in a town of less than 1,000 people. People regularly drive by the large, premier downstate hospital in Illinois to seek medical help 30 minutes away in this small place. Spend a few minutes with Dr. Rossi and you will hear him sing the praises of their medical community without even a hint of inferiority because of size. To the contrary, at some point Dr. Rossi will say, “We exploit the fact that we are small and rural!” Through the blending of rich “small theology” with corresponding practical outcomes, Exploit! convinces the reader that small size is not a liability but a trait begging to be exploited. Readers will see that their-size church is well-suited for fulfilling God’s mission and in fact has advantages. Exploit! does not pit small against big; it is not about what size is best but about how to be the best given the size that one’s church is. Rather than trying to imitate large churches, small churches do well to study themselves and their communities, and then prayerfully design ministries uniquely suited for their size, place, and time.
